A special little tune. I bonded with the Ole Man Rivers over this number over the years, and it ended up being a special track when he passed onto the great wide yonder a couple months after I released this cover; we even had a flower arrangement with a mock-LP featuring this tune on it at his burial. Despite all the eye-rolling at this little holiday, I can't help but spin Drunken Lullabies or a Pogues record or a Chieftains record and throw on Darby O'Gill every year on March 17th, feeling a little silly and a little closer to my dear departed parents, somewhere over the rainbow.
